National PTA
The National Parent Teacher Association — the largest parent-membership organization in the U.S. A connecting hub between the assessment-vendor side and the parent-advocacy side of achievement communication: partners with both Smarter Balanced on parent-reporting research and Learning Heroes on parent engagement more broadly.
Partnerships on assessment reporting
- Smarter Balanced — 2021–2022 collaboration on parent-facing assessment reporting. The published Findings From Virtual Focus Groups Among Parents carries National PTA branding alongside Smarter Balanced and the research firm Edge Research. PTA's framing of the problem in that report is the "assessment system literacy gap."
- Learning Heroes — listed as a key partner; specific co-authored artifacts not yet documented.
PTA is one of the few organizations with credibility on both sides of the gap (parents and vendors). If meaningful convergence on parent-facing reporting formats emerges, PTA is a likely venue.
Position on testing
The 2022 Findings report concludes with a National PTA statement defending standardized assessment as "one important tool" in a comprehensive system, while flagging "teacher assessment system literacy" as a co-equal problem to parent literacy. This is the most concrete statement of PTA's policy posture currently in the wiki.
