SpacesEDU

A K–12 digital portfolio and competency-based assessment platform from myBlueprint. Districts use SpacesEDU to express Portrait of a Graduate competencies as measurable templates that follow students across grades, populated with multimedia evidence and visible to families through a "live visual report card" interface. A concrete answer to the framework-strong, tooling-weak gap on the competency side of the landscape.

Product surface

  • For students: document multimedia evidence; self-assess against district competencies; curate portfolios for sharing.
  • For teachers: tag evidence to specific competencies and curriculum outcomes; rate growth on district-defined proficiency scales.
  • For families: view a live evidence stream, message educators directly, see a real-time competency report card. Multiple family members per child.

Position in the landscape

SpacesEDU sits at the intersection of two things that rarely meet in practice: a competency-based pedagogy frame (PoG) and a parent-communication channel. It does not integrate with standardized assessment data — there is no bridge between a student's portfolio and a state test score — so it does not solve the meaning-of-the-score problem; it offers a parallel reporting system that bypasses it entirely.

Adjacent platforms in the same competency-portfolio category, identified but not yet profiled: Wayfinder, Unrulr, Defined Learning, Panorama Education, CAE.

Follow-ups

  • Independent district case studies (not vendor marketing) that describe parent uptake or comprehension outcomes from SpacesEDU adoption.
  • Whether SpacesEDU is used in any of the five NGLC profiled districts (Bullitt County, Lindsay USD, Northern Cass, Da Vinci, Kettle Moraine).
  • How SpacesEDU's "proficiency scales" differ structurally from the proficiency bands on standardized tests — same problem in new packaging, or genuinely different mechanism?
